Every fall, we agonize about which of our fabulous pieces to nominate for the Pushcart Prizes, needing to narrow it down to six, and every February/March, we feel a sense of relief when we receive additional nominations from the contributing editors of the Pushcart board.
This year contributing editors agreed with us about two pieces, nominating them as well:
- Dorothy Chan, “So Chinese Girl” (poetry, Issue 15.2)
- Sarah Blackman, “The Key to the Fields” (fiction, Issue 15.2)
They also wanted to recognize two other fabulous pieces:
- Juliana Gray, “The Skaters” (poetry, Issue 15.2)
- Matthew Siegel, “Why I shouldn’t be invited to your party” (poetry, Issue 15.2)
Looking forward to seeing the final picks for the anthology later this spring!
We also wanted to post about our nominations for the New Stories from the Midwest anthology, which we’d announced on our social media accounts in late January, but not here on the blog. We’re wishing these stories well as the judges make their selections:
- Steve Amick, “Gil Butsen Ford” (Issue 15.2)
- Jameelah Lang, “Different Animals” (Issue 15.1)
- Kate McIntyre, “Prairie Vision” (Issue 15.2)
- Lindsay Starck, “Hibernation” (Issue 15.1)
